This recently posted video to YouTube by Ann a.k.a. Rockerchic4God describes the public credit crisis dilemma so well I had to post it here. She’s furious that Bank of America would jack up her credit card APR to over 30% despite no change in her credit rating, and no misses in payments. While Bank of America (and MANY OTHER BANKS mind you) were more than willing to accept government largess off the backs of hardworking Americans, they’ve turned around and jacked up rates on middle class debtors across the board to try and make up for all their solid risk management principles based on insane levels of leverage.

Her response is that if Bank of America doesn’t revert her credit card back to its previous rate, they’re not getting one more cent out of her. And she recommends that you do the same, especially if you do not own your own home or other major assets.

This “just walk away” attitude seems to be gaining traction among middle class ~~slaves~~workers who are hardest hit by a slithery cocktail of inflation and usurious interest rates that can be changed after the money has already been borrowed, at the whim of the lender without consequence. This attitude could gain traction as more mortgages continue to reset and employment continues to rise (just because people give up looking for a job doesn’t mean that unemployment drops – well, unless you’re the government looking to rig statistics just a wee bit more). The legal system won’t be able to do anything to stop it if tens of millions of people decide to stop paying their unsecured loans. And that’s the ultimate fear of the elite “powers that be” that they don’t want you to realize. If people band together for a just and fair cause against institutions and government that is corrupt to no end, only then can REAL CHANGE ever happen.

An open letter to The Wall Street Journal:

Dear WSJ Editor,

I have an appreciation for typography. I really do. My current typeface crush is Cooper Black Swash Italic Traditional (and Custom) which you can see is used in our header here at HotRoast.com. I also have a great appreciation for your publication and have come to rely on its interesting, informative, conservative and most usually useful content. After all, if I wanted silly and irrelevant I could simply journey to the comments section of my YouTube channel. However, I am frustrated by your editorial choices of late, one in particular titled “Typeface Inspired by Comic Books Has Become a Font of Ill Will”.

I believe it is safe to assume that many of your online readers, myself included, clicked on this asinine article because of its high rank under the “Most Popular” section of your website. I would expect a title that includes such formidable phrases as “Ill Will” would feature a font fist fight over copyright infringements. Alas, to my disappointment, no. Rather I find myself reading a feature that describes the creator of the Comic Sans font, Mr. Vincent Connare as a complete and total douche bag with no real point to the story whatsoever.

Perhaps you believe this 1,218 word editorial to be entertaining and whimsical. Reading this piece, one would think we’re living through extremely uninteresting times. So, how did something that reads like it’s from the faculty newsletter at the Art Institute Online end up published in YOUR PERIODICAL? Seriously, have I mistook The Wall Street Journal for Art Director’s Digest?

Mr./Ms. Editor, please correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t newspapers having an awfully tough time? Why would you choose to alienate your readers, especially those who continue to pay a SUBSCRIPTION FEE with such NONSENSICAL DRIVEL?

The point I’m eloquently trying to make could better be expressed in the colorful language of a disgruntled YouTube viewer. So here it goes; “NOBODY F’ING CARES ABOUT COMIC SANS SUCKING @SS!!! I WANT MY PAST 120 MINUTES OF MY LIFE BACK!!! WSJ, YOU ARE AN EPIC FAIL! U JUST GOT OWNED! WHATEVER THE HELL THAT MEANS! BLAHHHHHHH!!!”.

POST OPRAH’S YOUTUBE SHOW UPDATE:

Oprah’s show on YouTube seemed more interested in Patrick Swayze’s re-release of Dirty Dancing and the few viral videos that exploded across the Internet, and not at all on the diehard YouTubers who day in and day out work hard and slave over trying to come up with new material to entertain and make people laugh (ALL WITHOUT A TEAM OF 14 COMEDIC WRITERS like we’re hearing so much about with the writer’s strike!!, BY THE WAY). In addition, it seems that Oprah is not allowing comments on her videos – well, at least not approving very many of them.

When you have a brand to protect, I guess you really can’t allow much for “freedom of the people’s press”, which is a big part of what YouTube is all about.

Guess negative comments like “you suck go die” are only constructive for us little YouTubers!!

Regardless, feel free to leave all your OPRAH-related thoughts and comments on our vid!
