If you’re a vegan, or animal rights activist against seafood consumerism and consumption, now is the best time for you to click the back button on your browser and leave this how-to at once (but thanks for stopping by!). Okay, so if you’re still reading this I assume you looovvee the mouth-watering and heavenly taste of a lobster tail lightly spritzed with tangy lemon juice and dunked in warm, drawn butter. If so, read and watch on my fellow lobster lovah!
For some, killing and cooking a live lobster can be intimidating. After all, most of us aren’t like the contestants on Top Chef, right?! If you enjoy chowing down on America’s “favorite crustacean” you can easily do so from the comfort of your own home and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg either (although, it will cost the lobster some legs and two meaty claws…and a tail).
Since the onset of the Great Recession, the market price for fresh Maine lobsters has become an affordable luxury for us common folk. Kind of funny, since lobsters were considered “poor man’s” grub since the early days of the New England colonies and as recent as the 1950′s! Our “select” sized live lobsters (1.5 lbs/each) were purchased at a seafood market in New York City’s Chinatown for about $6.50 per pound. The friendly Chinese fish mongers even threw in (quite literally) a bunch of scallions for that price. Gotta love New Yawk!
Okay, yes, the idea of killing and cooking a live lobster may be a wee fretful but you’ll soon get over it. In addition to the yumminess factor, eating lobster can be beneficial to your health as well. After all, lobster is all protein (no carbs!), low-cal and rich in zinc, potassium, vitamins A, B, B12, D and vital Omega-3 fatty acids. So, warm a pot, tie on a bib and get crackin’ to a healthier you.
Health tip: Now just don’t get too crazy with that butter!

lobster is so delicious!
Lobster is so good! I just can’t cook it, i feel to guilty!
5:01-5:03 fail chef. Go back to school.
Man, in every single vids I’ve seen so far, these people have been missing out the JUICE by cutting up the lobsters. ME, I just keep the lobster whole and eat it while I suck the JUICE out of them.
this guy puting the lobster alive into boilin water is asking for bad karma. with the uneverse in harmonie and balanse at all times this meens that you do some thing bad to the lobster like boilin alive and you eventally suffer some thing bad that happen to you or your family, like a death in family, you has hart atack, you get cancer etc. it is reep what you sew.
@mofokraut ??? you rather eat it when it died of stabbing?
If you put a Lobster in boiling water (100°C) head first, he dies instantly! Prefer this method befor you try any knife kill or putting in the fridge. But best thing is, dont buy any Lobster or eat it at all, cause Lobster getting scarce. A Lobster grows very slow, for example a Lobster you get at the market is at least 20 years old.
@HandofGod440 you must be some trailor trash to think lobster is ‘very expensive’, and let me guess apple bees and red lobster serve delicacies too:p and Days in is the most expensive resort ever. Get your head out of your ass already
retard. stop embarassing us “yankees”. folks like you shame our country
Jesus, you should have just left this one alone. I said “SOME,” are very expensive you idiot, try a Maine lobster at a prestigious seafood restaurant, it’ll break your wallet. It’s not like the cheap shit you get at the grocery store. You cheap ass immigrants never buy anything expensive anyway. Go to a high quality seafood restaurant anywhere by the coast, Maine, Baltimore Harbor, New Jersey, Florida then come back and reiterate your statement. Applebee’s is one word BTW, douche, bravo.
@HandofGod440 dam dude, chill out. whats your problem? Also, only people near large city’s pay their wallets for sea foods because they don’t leave near it. So in your mind ” it’s so expensive ” Try living in a coastal areas in other countries and those are just common everyday food. Just because youve been accustomed to eating Scrap meat at fast food joints does not give you the right to insult other people.
@CoolConejo, what are you talking about lobsters are fairly expensive in most places in the States. Especially in coastal areas, a high quality lobster dish at a great coastal restaurant is expensive, not like going to a restaurant like red lobster or buying it cheap from the store and cooking it up yourself. It’s all about supply and demand. If people pay consistently high prices for it, it will stay high especially at quality restaurants not cheap bs like red lobster or the grocery store.
@CoolConejo all you people have to do is google prices and people will see its not cheap. Cheap shit is a value meal at mc donalds for $5, I consider a meal past 50+ bucks to be fairly expensive and usually when I order lobster I spend atleast 50 bucks, however it’s worth it because it’s excellent. Or spending around 100+ bucks for a hearty lobster dish and a couple drinks at a high quality coastal restaurant. Shit, on the piece of shit west coast it’d probably be more expensive.
